The Kent Allotments & Gardens Council is an affiliation of Allotment Societies in Kent and the boroughs of Bromley, Grenwich and the Medway. Aims To assist all members in the pursuit of gardening as a recreation and therapeutic pastime and to promote health education and community fellowship. Objectives [a] To promote the creation of allotments and encourage their proper cultivation within the county. [b] To advise and assist associations to obtain security of tenure of the land, which their members cultivate as allotments by means of :-[1]Town planning; [2] purchase by local authorities under the Small Holders and Allotments Act; [3]the leasing of allotment land acquired by local authorities to properly constituted associations or alternatively the delegation to such associations of the control and management of allotments as provided by the Allotments Act. [c] To promote allotments amenity by advocating proper siting and layout and the provision of suitable equipment, to urge the elimination of all unsightliness and to encourage neatness and tidiness generally |
